Parents and Community Members,

Please read this letter from the Putnam County School superintendents on the topics of how Ohio is funding its schools and the increasing burden of property taxes. Thank you.

Friday October 3, 2025 is National Manufacturing Day across the country with the goal to inspire the next generation to explore careers in modern manufacturing. We celebrated locally with Putnam County Manufacturing Day in efforts to show our students the wonderful opportunities we have right here in our area.

Our 8th grade students were able to visit Miller Precision Manufacturing Industries (MPI) in Ottoville, BK Tool and Design in Kalida, and Remlinger Manufacturing in Kalida. Leaders at these facilities opened their doors to our students to show them the career opportunities within their companies.

These students then went to Northwest State Community College to visit three industrial classrooms to learn about educational opportunities available in the skilled trades areas.

A special thank you to the Workforce Partnership of Putnam County for organizing Putnam County manufacturing day and for all of these facilities taking time out of their day to help educate our students on opportunities! It was a great day of learning outside the classroom!

Millstream Career Center celebrated the grand opening of its new STREAM Center on Thursday afternoon. This brand new lab will house the career technical school’s Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Robotics programs. Many dignitaries were in attendance including Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn and State Representative Ty Mathews. Invited to speak on behalf of the Manufacturing and Robotics program was Miller City senior, Ethan Niese. Ethan testified to the great opportunities this new lab space will provide to both him and his fellow students. After his remarks, Ethan also stood front and center and did the “ribbon cutting” honors. Congratulations to Ethan and Millstream Career Center on this latest learning initiative!

We had the privilege of hosting Alex Sheen at our school. Alex Sheen is the founder of because I said I would, a social movement and nonprofit dedicated to bettering humanity through promises made and kept. Alex presented a inspirational message to our middle school and high school students. Leipsic Local Schools and Continental Local Schools were also able to join us for the presentation. A special thanks to the Mental Health, Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Board of Putnam County and the Suicide Awareness Run/Walk of Putnam County for making this possible for our schools!
