The 7th and 8th grade Quiz Bowl team recently competed in a county-wide tournament hosted by the Putnam County Educational Service Center. The team represented MCNC well, finishing the day with 5 wins and 3 losses. A 6th grade group also attended a tournament at the PCESC. It was another fine display of MCNC skill, with the 6th grade also finishing with 5 wins and 3 losses. Great job, Wildcats!!

The 7th grade PLTW Medical Detective students presented patient case studies in class this week. They researched food borne diseases and properly diagnosed and treated fictional patients!

7th grade students participated in a 2 day Energy Expo. Students had to become experts in their alternative energy source field and produce a model or prototype of their energy source. Students took turns walking around, listen to presentations and answer questions about each energy source.

A huge congratulations goes out to junior Gabriella Dershem, whose VFW’s Voice of Democracy speech won 2nd place this weekend at the state level. Gabi received a $5,000 scholarship. If you can take the time, please read her attached speech, which focuses on the awareness of PSTD for America’s veterans. Again, congratulations, Gabi!
